Welcome to the second edition of Literacy + Life, our blog series that shares family literacy activities as a way to promote literacy. Want an easy way to bring literacy to the dinner table? Turn on a little music. There are so many wonderful ways that music can contribute to literacy growth.  Welcome to 2015! One of our goals at the Reading Tub is to bring literacy home for families. Yes, it is about sharing books and getting children excited about reading. But it is also about engaging readers with their world. We’re kicking off 2015 by launching a new literacy series! The summer I turned eight, my family camped our way across the United States from Baltimore, Maryland, to Monmouth, Oregon. Just before we left, my mom gave me a small, spiral-bound notebook for memorializing our trip. That little notebook (that cute little notebook to the left over there) launched a lifelong love of writing.
