Friday Blurb: Book Blogger Convention

BookBlogCon Book Blogger Convention 2010

New York, NY

A week from today! One of the reasons I get to spend a WHOLE week in one of my all-time favorite cities is because I was invited to be a panelist at the inaugural 2010 Book Blogger Convention. Yes, I’ll probably be a wee bit exhausted after  IBPA’s Publishing University on Tuesday and BookExpo America on Wednesday and Thursday, but I wouldn’t miss this for the world. I get to talk about what I love … paying forward a love of reading. Yeah!

Like the days preceding it, this will be a head-spinning day of great stuff. I am SO looking forward to reconnecting with some Peeps from KidLitCon 2009 in Washington, DC last October (thanks again Pam!) and also listening to some of the presentations. Check out this lineup …

7:45-8:45 – Breakfast and Registration
8:50 – 9:00 Opening Remarks
9:00 – 10:30 – Keynote Speaker
10:45-11:45 – Professionalism/Ethics
11:45-1:00 – Lunch
1:00 – 1:50 – Writing/Building Content
2:00-2:50 – Marketing
3:00-3:50 – Social Responsibility
4:00-4:50- Author/Blogger Relationships
4:50 – 5:00 – Closing Remarks

There is going to be a pre-conference gathering Thursday evening from 4 o’clock to 6 o’clock in the afternoon. From the BBC website: “The affair will be casual and will be bloggers, authors and industry types mixing and mingling for a bit over light refreshments.” All of this takes place at the Jacob Javits Center, which hosts BookExpo America itself. That in itself is a coup! Congrats to the organizing team. It is going to be a great way to end the week!

Knowing how savvy the book blogging crowd is, I imagine you’ll have the full Twitter transcript and a half dozen blog posts by the end of the day.

Will I see you at Book Blogger Con? or at BEA (I’ll mostly be in Booth 2370)? or at the KidLit Drink Night? I sure hope so.
